The North Dakota court system announced on Mar. 24 a job opening for the position of Deputy Clerk of District Court in Grand Forks, with an annual salary of $54,504.

The role is described as full-time and regular, with applications closing at 11:59 p.m. Central on April 13. The announcement states that candidates selected for interviews will be required to take typing and grammar tests.

According to the posting, the Deputy Clerk is responsible for case management activities across criminal, civil, traffic, or other cases from initial filing to final disposition. Duties include reviewing documents for conformity to court procedures and rules, managing court calendars, processing financial transactions such as fees and fines, assisting the public with information requests that do not involve legal advice or confidential matters, and participating in jury program management.

The ideal candidate should thrive in structured and deadline-oriented environments and have strong attention to detail. A high school diploma and two years of related experience are required; equivalent combinations of education or training may also be considered. Additional requirements include a valid driver’s license or equivalent mobility.

If assigned recording duties within the courtroom, candidates must obtain Digital Audio Recording certification or American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers certification within six months if not already certified by another state or federal court.
