The Dickinson Public Defender Office is seeking a Supervising Attorney to lead its daily operations and provide legal representation to indigent clients in the Southwest Judicial District. The position also involves representing clients before the North Dakota Supreme Court when necessary.

Responsibilities for this role include supervising attorneys and support staff, managing office administration, coordinating with justice system agencies, and ensuring ethical legal representation in judicial proceedings. The Supervising Attorney may also handle conflict cases in other jurisdictions and must stay current on relevant laws. Regular travel throughout the district is required.

Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be eligible to practice law in North Dakota. Applications from those eligible for licensure but not currently licensed in North Dakota will be considered. At least four years of criminal law experience, including court work, is required. While supervisory experience is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Applicants should have strong communication skills as well as analytical and decision-making abilities. The successful candidate will need to maintain an active license and fulfill continuing education requirements.
