Burleigh County is seeking applications for the position of Legal Assistant I at the State’s Attorney’s Office in Bismarck, North Dakota. The full-time role offers an hourly wage between $21.62 and $23.52, with full benefits included. Applications will be accepted until March 16, 2026.
The person hired will report to the State’s Attorney, Administrative Supervisor, or a Legal Assistant II. Responsibilities include supporting legal staff through clerical and technical tasks such as preparing legal documents, scheduling court appearances, maintaining case files and calendars, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies regarding court schedules. Additional duties involve collecting necessary documentation, notifying witnesses of trial dates, filing documents with courts, preparing exhibits for court presentations, and providing general office support.
Candidates should have two years of experience in legal office support or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an associate degree focusing on the legal field is preferred but not required. Proficiency in word processing software like Microsoft Word and strong typing skills are essential. Applicants must also be familiar with legal terminology and forms.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required due to frequent interaction with employees, clients, and the public. The ability to manage multiple priorities under limited supervision is important for this role.
