The state Supreme Court admitted new lawyers to the bar during a ceremony held on April 16. The event featured participation from Justices Jon J. Jensen, Jerod E. Tufte, Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers, Douglas A. Bahr, and Mark A. Friese.

The admission of new attorneys is an important milestone for those entering the legal profession in the state. The ceremony marks their official entry into legal practice and underscores their commitment to upholding professional standards.

Justice Douglas Bahr led the group of new lawyers as they took the lawyers pledge, while Justice Jerod Tufte administered the oath to those being admitted. Debra Hoffarth, President of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, addressed the group and encouraged them “to balance their professional and personal responsibilities.” Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers congratulated each attorney and “offered them words of encouragement as they begin their new careers.” Afterward, Justices Bahr, Friese, and Tufte met with each new lawyer in a receiving line following the conclusion of formal proceedings.

During the event, Grant Walsh was among those who added his name to the Roll of Attorneys as others waited for their turn.

Ceremonies such as this one serve both as recognition for individual achievement and a reminder of professional responsibility within North Dakota’s legal community.
