North Dakota Supreme Court issues notices on rule amendments and adoptions

The North Dakota Supreme Court announced on Mar. 16 that it has issued several notices regarding the amendment or adoption of court rules.

These changes are important for legal professionals and the public, as they affect procedures related to professional conduct, parenting investigations, lawyer admissions, and disciplinary processes in North Dakota.

According to the announcement, Notices of Adoption have been issued for amendments to the North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 1.4 (Communication) and 1.15 (Safekeeping Property and Professional Liability Insurance Disclosure), as well as Rule of Court 8.6 concerning Parenting Investigators. The Supreme Court also released Notices of Comment for proposed amendments to Admission to Practice Rule 3 (Pro Hac Vice Registration of Nonresident Lawyers) and Rule of Professional Conduct 5.5 (Unauthorized Practice of Law). Additionally, comments are being sought on proposed changes to Rule of Lawyer Discipline 4.4 (Reciprocal Discipline), 6.1 (Records), and 3.1 (General Discipline Procedure).

The notice states that these updates are provided under N.D.R.Proc.R. § 7.
