The North Dakota Supreme Court has announced a job opening for the position of Deputy Clerk of District Court in Williston. The full-time role offers an annual salary of $54,504 and is open to applicants until February 4, 2026.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least two years of related experience. Equivalent combinations of education, training, or experience that demonstrate the ability to fulfill the responsibilities may also be considered. Applicants selected for interviews will need to complete typing and grammar tests.

The Deputy Clerk will assist with case management activities involving criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial filing through final disposition. Duties include reviewing documents for conformity with court procedures and rules, scheduling court calendars, recording case proceedings into the court’s management system, handling financial transactions such as fees and fines, providing customer service to the public within established legal boundaries, and participating in jury program management.

If assigned to record court proceedings, candidates must either possess or obtain certification from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) within one year of assignment. Comparable certifications from other state or federal courts may also be accepted.

The job requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in office software programs, adaptability to changes in a fast-paced environment, and effective communication skills. Physical requirements are consistent with light office work but may involve occasional travel for court proceedings.
